Social Media Good or Bad?

I by no means am an expert when it comes to all the many ways to communicate and market one's self or product, however I do have an opinion I'd like to share about it.

I've heard many say they feel that with email, texting, etc this generation is less "connected" on a face to face level. Less of the real stuff, less face time.

I actually feel much more connected. I'll give you an example of why I feel this way. Very recently I had the honor of being on the cover of the premiere issue of Best Events Magazine. I posted this news with a copy of the article up on my facebook page. I received some really nice feedback from this post many comments were from people I have not spoken to since high school but we have "friended" each other on Facebook so that we can be virtual voyeurs of our lives. Wow, people from high school who I lost touch with and would likely never reconnect with are talking to me, sharing the excitement I feel for this great accomplishment. How cool is that?

Is multitasking a female thing?

If you want something done give it to a busy person. My husband has a hard time focusing his attention on more than one thing at a time. This has never been more apparent to me than since he started living his dream by shooting a film he wrote and independently produced. In fact, not only can he not focus on anything else, but if I try to get him to he now gets overwhelmed and sometimes upset.

I just have to chuckle at all of this because I would not have a career in events if this was my personality. Is this a Gemini thing? Let me look this up, hang on (not that I am a big believer in astrology but I can't resist). Let's see..astrology.com says, 'often restless, easily bored and can become frustrated by things moving too slowly,' yeah, that's him...there have been periods where I have come home stressed and he has said, please I can do you job... and I laugh thinking, no way could he do my job.

Multitasking=Event Planning. And not only must you be able to keep many balls in the air at the same time...you have make sure everything is precise. Done well, not just done.. Kapish? If you want many things done, give them to an event planner...not their husbands. :)
